AI’s Second Group of Singers Fight For a Final Spot
Hi Everyone,
Tonight’s AI features the second group of twelve singers. Once again, the guy and girl with the highest votes will go through to the final twelve. Also, the third singer (either male or female) goes through.
First up tonight is Jasmine Murray. She’s been featured throughout the tryouts. She’s a “looker” that’s for sure. The judges were disappointed. She was flat throughout most of the song. I was surprised because I thought she was better than that. Nerves? Youth? Who knows.
Next up is Matt Giraud. He sang a Coldplay song. Once again, the judges were disappointed and trashed him. Alright, Simon trashed him and the others gently told him he wasn’t that good. They said he didn’t choose the right song.
Jeanine Vailes, the bartender from Sherman Oaks, California is up. She chose a Maroon Five song. Uh-oh not good. Paula told her she has great legs. Simon said it was terrible, the completely wrong song, but agreed with Paula about her great legs. Randy also liked her legs, but didn’t like her singing. Kara tried to think of something positive to say but nope, in the end she told her she didn’t think she deserved to move on. There are too many better singers in this season’s competition, I think Jeanine has sung her last song.
I doubt you need to be reminded about who Nick Mitchell is. But just in case, he’s the funny guy with the good voice. He managed to weedle his way through all the tryouts to get to this point. He sang “You’ve Got To Love Me” and I must confess I do! He camped it up and was really funny. The next American Idol? Probably not, but Las Vegas…here comes Nick!
Sixteen year old, Allison Iraheta sang a Heart song and she sang with her whole heart and soul! All the judges were thrilled with her performance. So far, the best of the night.
Kris Allen is one of those surprise contestants. He hasn’t been pushed by the American Idol producers, but he has a great voice and super stage presence. Randy, Paula and Simon liked him–Kara did not. I thought he was great and awfully cute too!
Megan Joy Corkrey, the twenty-two year-old from Utah sings next. My husband calls her “tattoo girl”. She’s so pretty, but my eyes keep going to her tattooed arm. What’s up with that? The dress combined with the tattoo–not congruous. Paula loved her. Simon thought she oversang the second half of her song, but he said he hopes America keeps her in the competition. Randy said she did a “nice, nice job”. Kara thinks she can be the next “breakout hit” artist.
The construction worker from Bixby, Oklahoma, Matt Brietzke is onstage. He’s an American Idol producer favorite who has had lots of air time so far. His family is adorable and AI is cashing in on that. You want him to do well. Simon said Matt’s song was boring and his performance wasn’t good enough. Randy agrees with Simon. Kara said his performance fell flat, but that he can sing. Paula says the same thing–bad song choice. I have to admit, I drifted off into my own thoughts in the middle so I’ll have to agree with the judges.
Jesse Langseth sings “Bette Davis Eyes”. Randy thought it was okay, but the song was cool. He didn’t think the song had enough range. Kara thought she showed more of herself tonight. Paula finds her captivating. Simon thinks she’s forgetable. She has a great sound and her personality and looks are definitely special.
Kai Kalama is the guy with the sick mom. I’m pushing for him because he’s from my “neck of the woods”. He’s got a great look and sings okay. Kara thought he had good and bad moments. Paula thought he was quite the performer. Simon thought his performance was corny. Randy agrees with Simon and says it was “too safe”. I don’t think Kai will be one of tomorrow’s top three, oh well.
Mishavonna Henson is an eighteen-year-old from Irvine, California. She auditioned last year and was cut during Hollywood week. She sings “Drops of Jupiter” by Train. Paula didn’t like the song, but she thinks Mishavonna can sing. Simon thinks she’s too serious and that her performance was cold. Randy agrees with Simon. Kara wants her to let loose a bit more.
Adam Lambert is the last to sing. Did they save the best for last? In his bio, he mentions that he’s been singing in theater since he was ten-years-old. That definitely helps him onstage. He chooses “Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones. Paula says he’s in a league of his own. Simon says he thought parts were terrible and then parts were brilliant. Randy loved his performance. Kara says he has incredible range. Well, you all know how I feel about Adam.
Tomorrow we’ll see how you voted. Stay Tuned…luv Bloggergal1

I thought that last night’s performance were, on a whole – terrible. I fast forwarded through most of the 2-hour show. I definately think the four judges “thing” we having going this year is slowing down an already tedious process and other than Simon I don’t think they are giving these kids good advise. I agree the funny guy was the most entertaining of the lot – what does that say about the future of the show? Group was was better – looking forward to group three.
