American Idol Top Five Perform and Haley Steals the Show
Wow, I was surprised to hear Ryan Seacrest say that there are only three more weeks of American Idol. Tonight the top five contestants will perform two songs each–one modern, one classic. It’s easy to say that Jacob is going home this week, but will he? Remember that every week after someone goes home, the votes from that person end up going to another contestant. So in other words, all of Casey Abrams fans will be voting for one of the remaining five. That changes the whole dynamic from the previous week.
Out of the first five performances, I would have to give props to Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery and Haley Reinhart. I know I’m going to hear from all the James Durbin fans, but I thought he sounded bad on his first song. Same goes for Jacob Lusk. Of course, the judges loved both James and Jacob and they didn’t like Haley. I thought she did a great job on that song and that she made the correct decision in choosing it.
When James sang his second song, was there a dry (female) eye in the house? His authentic emotions are going to be hard to beat in this competition. As the judges said, his song wasn’t pitch-perfect, but he continuously wins over the audience week after week.
Jacob’s second song was better than his first number, but I don’t think it can save him this week. The other four performers are stronger than him in talent, in stage presence and in fan base.
Unchained Melody is one of my favorite songs ever. However, I thought Lauren did this song too softly for my tastes. The judges tiptoed around her (as usual). Didn’t she look absolutely beautiful in that gown?
My DH commented that Scotty always picks the right song. He stays true to himself and his style of singing, thank goodness! He’s been working on his stage presence too–did you notice? He’s learning how to work that camera.
Haley Reinhart kicked butt with The House of the Rising Sun! She showed her range and her sexiness. I have to agree with Randy…this was the best performance of the night.
Hopefully, Jacob Lusk will be voted off tomorrow because it would be a true shame if it’s one of the other four contestants. Good night. Bloggergal

My favorite was Haley with a song I grew up with and an all time favorite House of the Rising Sun. I liked Laurens Unchained Melody but felt she gave up on the high note. She could have done it. I’m actually happy it’s almost over it means summer is coming. Good luck idol contestants.
