American Idol Sudden Death Continues

So I went to Florida last week. I had a good time, but brought some kind of germ back with me and that’s why I’m behind on my AI blogs. Better late than never!

Once again, we hear 10 girls sing and once again, five will be eliminated. This is the third Sudden Death round. There was some talent here, but still there isn’t one American Idol contestant popping out and taking the lead away from the others.
Leaving this week were Melinda, Juliana, Jett, Cristabel and Rachel. I liked Rachel the country singer, but when I replayed her performance, I noticed she wasn’t singing through to the end of her words. The youngin’ Juliana sang and played guitar. She was too meek and mild and was swallowed up in this competition. I look forward to seeing if she comes back in a later season. Keith liked the “soul, croaky thing” in Cristabel’s voice, but it wasn’t enough to keep her in the competition. Jett and Melinda were “eh”.

Candice does make it through to the next round. She has a big voice with incredible range, but I’m not sure she has what it takes to be the next American Idol because she doesn’t seem current to me. I would buy her music, but I don’t think the young will. A true American Idol can develop fans from all walks of life, IMO.

Speaking of current, Aubrey and Breanna are definitely current. Okay, yes, perhaps even too current for me. I went on You Tube to listen to the original performance of Bust Your Window. I wanted to see how Breanna’s performance compared. Huh, I thought Breanna did better than the original! Aubrey too has her act together. She dressed current (and very sexy), she looked the part and she sang the part. Those two are ones to watch.

It came down to Janelle the country singer taking the spot over Rachel, the other country singer. I replayed both performances and yes Janelle took a slight edge vocally over Rachel but I still think she didn’t sing that well.

Causing quite a stir on the Internet is the final of the five to make it through Zoanette. Zoanette is 20 years old, but to me looks quite older. She has a tendency to wear outrageous wigs which I guess is her style. She sings Circle of Life from the Lion King. The judges give her a standing ovation. I replayed her song while looking away. She had some incredibly good and some bad moments. Her performance value pushes her through. She sure will be fun to watch at her concert. However, a lot of people think she’s not talented enough to be continuing on Idol. I guess we shall see.

I was wondering how good this group of 10 guys were going to be, after being so disappointed with the first group of 10. I was happier with these guys. There were definite standouts for me in this group.

Leaving the competition is Josh, David, Bryant, Mathanee and Gurprett. Josh did an okay job, but didn’t leave me wanting more. Gurprett sang his first note and my first thought was “Oh, no!” David sang the song Fever with a guitar—huh? Bryant didn’t have the X Factor that’s for sure. What? Wrong show? The only one with any saving grace would have been Mathanee but he just couldn’t measure up to the five that went through. The judges called these correctly, IMO.

I definitely like these five guys better than the first five guys. Vincent, the 29 year-old back-up singer is one of my favorites. I love that kind of music and the way he performs it. I also like his look. Long live Vincent!

Burnell is kind of like a younger Vincent. Maybe it’s the glasses? He also is one of my favorites. I love that he lost 40 pounds and that he is putting his whole heart and soul into this competition. I’ll vote for him.

What can anyone say about Lazaro? He’s special. He’s got such a charm about him. His story is amazing. When he sings, his voice comes out sounding angelic.

Cortez is another nice looking guy. I definitely enjoy hearing him sing. Lets see if he can step up to the plate.

That leaves Nick. He has a current feel to him I think. He definitely deserved a top spot.

So next week, for the first time this season, America gets to choose who will stay and who will go. Will you be voting? Stay tuned…Bloggergal

The sudden death round must be scary for the contestants since they can either go through the next round or just go home. I think the girls have a pretty good group of singers but so do the boys,it’s going to be a tough season.

I believe some of the contestants that went home should not have left. Sudden dealth is the worst part of the show because your faith lies in one song and its either your on or your out and to some people they could have done better but failed for just that week.
