First of all, I don’t vote – not because I don’t want to but because I am a Canadian.

But I do watch with interest every week and my partner and I discuss the performers and their performances.

I think that America votes geographically to an extent – a performer from the south gets southern votes, a mid-western performer gets mid-western votes. I think people vote along racial and ethnic lines as well.

I think most voters vote for their favourite performer and stay with that person to the end regardless how poorly they may perform on a particular show.

I rank the candidates by their overall performance. My favourite performer may not have had a good performance on the last show, for example, so then my nod would go to the person who was the best performer.

We all know of great singers who are not great performers – their careers are usually affected by that shortcoming. And is it not the goal of AI to arrive at the best performer (which encompasses best singer in most cases)?

So … last week I would have voted for Adam for Best Performance. I would also have voted for Kris, Alison, and Matt probably in that order). I would not have voted for Lil, Anoop or Danny, and the results were not a surprise to me.

I would’ve voted for him his performance was good.I vote not so much on the singer’s performance more so on how well they perform the song that they choose.

I would vote for who sang the best. I think Kris should win.

i personally agree with everyone else and i think that america does follow and vote for their favorites no matter what or how bad they do . i know i dont vote , but if i did i would most likely vote for my favorite and then who i thought did the best . i dont want people who deserve to stay going home , but if my favorite is still there im happy . i think thats how most of america votes also , but everyone has different favorites . sometimes i think girls vote more on looks than talent . example is the season with sanjiia (not spelled correctly) he wasnt good at all but he stayed for longer than he should have because girls liked him . the way people vote for this show is mainly bassed on favoritism and thats all there is to it . i dont care if my favorite does bad or not i am still going ot vote for him/her .

hi EVERYONE !I thought a lot over this question and I think it depends upon the person voting. For example someone like Don votes for the best all around singer and performer, the person they think deserves to win. I am the same. On the other hand, some teenage girls who are boy-crazy might vote for Kris just because he is very handsome. When I vote,I also vote for people who deserve to stay in the competition who are on the brink of elimination such as Matt. Some other people who vote, vote for the best performance of the night. I do not vote this way . This is because, although their performance may be wonderful , they may not be the most deserving, best all around contestant. If Adam did horrible one week , I would still vote for him because he deserves to win…. Adam’s heart and soul is in this competition! Also, there are some voters out there who vote for people because of their racial backround , ethnicity, or even because they are male or female! No matter who votes for who, it is american idol and America chooses their star.

My favorite person on america idol is still Alison. I liked he from the start. I think her voice is really good and it just gets better week. My second favorite is Adam. I like him because every time he gets on stage he gives 110% and he knows hes good. Danny is really good but he could get better. Chris is also very talented cause he makes every song he sings his own way and seems like he wrote it…….

i vote by who did the best that night. if they were the best then they deserve me vote. i only call one or twice not 100 times. i cant stay on the phone and redial the number 100 times.

I think America votes for the people they like the most, not basing it on who sings the best, or who has the most unique voice. I think America votes on their favorite due to personality and looks. Personally, I base it on who I like the best overall. Overall meaning looks, personality, and voice. All those catagories help me decide who will get my vote for that week.

I think they vote for there favorite person. No. Second question I vote for best proformer. I would save kris.

I believe people vote for their favorite performer rather than the best performance. if Adam was horrible the public would still vote for him.the way i vote is by best performance. i try to look at it at a neutral point of view each week is different for me so one week i think Adam is horrible and is going home and the next week he could be my top pick it all depends.

i think that a lot of the people vote based on looks, but speaking from a guys point of view i vote based on talent, and i think that adam has a lot of it .

I think that everyone has their favorites & votes according to who they want to win. Not based on who does the best week by week. People also vote based on looks and appearence because that’s who they want to stay around from week to week just because of their physical appearence instead of basing it on their vocal ability.

America votes on talent, but most of it is probably based on looks. 2009 Idol is going to be Adam Lambert

First of all i don’t really vote, if i did i probaly wouldn’t vote for adam. He’s a great vocalist don’t get me wrong, but he murdered Wild cherry that one week. And since then i haven’t been able to forgive him. hah. I don’t know. But either way i’d probaly vote on Performances. Sorry im a little late on this Dr.b

i think you should vote for the person you like and think usually has the best choices of songs every week and comes out and does a great job if they have a bad week one week u shouldnt not want to vote for them they still have been good through out the whole show.

To whom it may concern i do not vote for any of the american idol contestants, not saying i don’t think they are talented i just don’t want to. I think when america votes they pick a favorite in the beginning and just keep voting for them regardless of how they do week by week. Sorry this is late Dr. Butz……..GO ADAM!!!!!!

Well I think most people do vote for who they favor by looks and personality. I dont vote personally, but I know when we are judging them in class i do usually go for my favorite, even if they did do worse than they usually do. Even though I do love Kris, Danny and Adam, and i cant pick a favorite. They all deserve it though, they do their best and try their hardest. I hope they all go somewhere in life, and i hope they pick the best.

I think that it depends on who’s voting, and the persons point of view on the show. If someones really interested in it, they would probably vote do to the performance. But if they just watch the show once in a while, they most likely vote for the persons looks. I dont vote. but if i did, id vote do to the performance.

I think they vote for whoever they like the best throughout the entire show.

From the two days out of the week that american idol is on out of the three performers left on american idol are the ones who went through it all to get to where they are. America should vote based on the how they contribute to the show and show passion to what they are trying to accomplish.
If i had to choose it would be hard but i would go by the standards up top.
