Hi Everyone!

Since Matt was saved last week, we will hear our final seven contestants perform again tonight.  As I told you yesterday, it’s Disco week.  Two will be voted off this week.

First up is Lil Rounds.  This should be her week since she has a ton of “diva” type songs to choose from.  She picks Chaka Khan’s “I’m Every Woman”.  I don’t know what it is, but she just can’t pull it off.  The judges all trash her and Simon says this will be her farewell song.  All four judges commented so I guess the producers decided to go back to the original format.

To be able to survive on American Idol, it is absolutely essential to take a song and twist it and shape it until it’s your own.  Kris Allen does this amazingly with Donna Summer’s “She Works Hard For The Money”.  Accompanied by bongo’s and his own guitar, he revives this disco number and gives it new life.  All the judges are positive.  He actually made me like a song that I wasn’t too crazy about before.

Every week, Danny’s look is tweaked just a little bit.  This week he has a bit more facial hair and his glasses are back.  I really do like him better with the glasses.  He sings “September” an Earth, Wind and Fire number.  The judges are kind of mixed about his performance.  He does a good enough job to keep him in the running.

Allison Iraheta does another Donna Summer song “Hot Stuff”.  She remakes it into an edgy rock number.  I suppose her outfit of glitter, leather and high heeled boots reflects “Hot Stuff”.  The judges are once again mixed, but Simon thinks it was brilliant.

Now the contestant we were all waiting for Adam Lambert.  He chooses “If I Can’t Have You” from Saturday Night Live.  He slows it down and plays it up.  How he’s never been discovered prior to this show is beyond me.  All the judges are gushing and Paula is crying.  His suit is hot but the hair is a bit too Elvis for me.  Did you check out his ring?

Matt Giraud sings the Bee Gee’s “Stayin’ Alive” also a Saturday Night Live song.  That was such a fun movie <sigh>.  Oh…sorry…I drifted off into John Travolta land for a second or two.  Anyway, I think he does a really good job.  Randy doesn’t like the song or arrangement but he thinks that Matt can really sing.  Kara says it was a solid performance.  Paula thinks he “bowled a strike”.  Simon doesn’t like it at all. 

Last up tonight is Anoop Desai.  Hmm, he’s tweaked his look too…going with some facial hair this week.  He looks and sounds great…except for that last note (ouch!).  I was surprised he handled Disco week with ease!  Of course, Simon doesn’t like it at all. 

This week is going to be tough with two Idols going home.  My guess is definitely Lil Rounds and I have no idea who the second one is!  I do know that whoever it is, it will be sad to see him or her leave. 

Just an aside, the American Idol website lists the concerts coming up this summer.  Check it out and see if the Idols are coming to your area.  I didn’t go last year, but I won’t miss it this year.  I can’t wait to see Adam Lambert in person.
