American Idol Top 36 round 1 RESULTS
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to American Idol’s first Results Show of the season. Last year, I didn’t watch any of the results shows. Since I live on the West Coast, I’d look online at who was eliminated after the live show airs on the East Coast. I don’t really enjoy the results shows. They are drawn out and make much ado about nothing!
The first ten minutes had a summary of the twelve contestants’ tryouts. Next, all twelve performed a song together. These songs are always uncomfortable for me and (I think) for the contestants. They have to sing and dance whatever song the producer’s come up with and it doesn’t necessarily fit everyone. Actually, watching the choreography can be pretty funny!
After the break, Ryan goes through last night’s performances and the judges reactions.
On to the eliminations. First up is Casey Carlson and she is quickly eliminated. Stephen Fowler is next up and he is unsurprisingly eliminated too. Alexis Grace is up next. As predicted, she makes it to the top twelve. She does an encore of her previous night’s performance. Knowing she’s made it relaxes her and she does a killer job on her song.
Another break and I check out the time. A half hour left to eliminate seven and fill two more spots. Ryan calls down Jackie Tohn and Ricky Braddy. Of course, neither of them makes it to the final twelve. Next to come down onto center stage is Anoop Desai and Michael Sarver. I figured it would come down to one of these two making it to the final twelve. I thought it would be Anoop but Michael gets the spot. He sings and in my humble opinion he’s just not that good. Ryan mentions that only 20,000 votes separated Anoop and Michael. I think Anoop has a good chance of taking one of the wild cards.
Commercial time and as I sit here typing I’m thinking “Hmm, who is going to get that last spot?” I’m on pins and needles! Alright NOT. I know, as I’m sure you know, that Danny Gokey is a shoe-in.
Ryan does a “commercial” bit about Disney World and the new American Idol attraction. David Cook and Carrie Underwood were at the opening and we get to see a tiny bit of their performance. Next out on stage is Carly Smithson and Michael Johns from last year’s show. They sing a duet. I would have preferred just hearing Michael Johns but that’s just me!
Fifteen more minutes of the first results show remains. Ryan has Brent Keith, Anne Marie Boscovich and Stevie Wright stand up. They don’t even get to come to the middle of the stage. They are eliminated. Okay, we are down to the final two. Tatiana Deltoro and Danny Gokey step up to the middle of the stage. Ryan tells them that one will move on while one is eliminated. Tatiana’s face tells it all. She knows Danny isn’t going anywhere. Ryan puts Paula Abdul on the spot and asks her which one should remain. She “hems” and “haws” and then reluctantly admits it should be Danny. Ryan, as usual, goes to commercial.
Such suspense…I can’t take it anymore! It’s 8:53 p.m. The Axe commercial with the pig is on. Weird one isn’t it? It’s 8:55 p.m now. Finally, Ryan announces that Danny is going through to the top twelve. Not surprisingly Tatiana looks shocked and devastated. Surprise, surprise! Danny sings his encore and the audience is on their feet. Tatiana is crying. All the other’s who were eliminated are smiling and acting like pros.
Next week, we get to hear Adam Lambert again. Woohoo, I can’t wait! The guy is HOT! Talk to you then. Love Bloggergal1

I don’t think you have a clue.Adam Lambert, what a phoney. Danny Gokey, heartwrenching story, but I thought this was about finding the best and most marketable singer. Danny will go the way of Tyler Hicks, Adam will go well, just away. Michael just is not that good. Anoop will be like Elliot. Ricky Braddy is the one. Maybe they know that he is going make it without Idol. Now that everyone has heard him. Living on the west coast, you never get it wrong. it is easy to blog after the fact…
