American Idol’s Top Nine of Season Nine

The contestants will choose any one of the awesome songs from the writing team of Paul McCartney and John Lennon.  First up tonight is Aaron Kelly.  His choice is “The Long and Winding Road”.  Randy didn’t like the arrangement.  Ellen said it was “a long and winding song”.  Kara said that for what he’s trying to do he needs to be great and he’s not there yet.  Simon thought it was boring and old fashioned and he needs to become young and relevant.  I don’t agree with any of the judges, I liked his version of the song.

Katie Stevens picks “Let It Be”.  Randy said it was her best performance ever.  Ellen said she changed it up just enough to make it her own without disrespecting the song.  Kara likes her confident attitude.  Simon took credit for her success tonight.  Huh?

“Can’t Buy Me Love” is Andrew Garcia’s song choice for the night.  Randy said his performance was solid but a little corny.  Ellen says that first of all you can buy love–right Simon?  Kara said she wants to like it.  Simon thought it was old fashioned and irrelevant.  Andrew gets a lot of grief from the judges and America.  I hope he gets to stick around longer.

Michael Lynche chooses “Eleanor Rigby”.   When he was little, his performing  family would sing all over Florida and this was one of their favorites.  If you remember, David Cook kicked butt with this song.  Randy thought Big Mike could record it.  Ellen thought it was incredible.  Kara said his vocals were “fire”.  Simon didn’t love it as much as the other three judges did.  I didn’t think it was as good as David Cook’s version.  I listen to that one all the time.

Next up is Crystal Bowersox.  She picks “Come Together” for tonight.  Randy says “another solid performance”.  Ellen says she keeps trying to come up with new ways to tell her how great she is.  Kara liked that Crystal was more accessible and playful tonight.  Simon says that song could be on the radio and that it was much better than last week.

Tim Urban sings “All My Lovin”.  Randy said it was a good “Tim performance”.  Ellen thought he did very well.  Kara thinks he does better when he sings with his guitar.  Simon said that Tim did a really good job tonight.  Wow…a compliment from Simon!

Casey James picks “Jealous Guy” from John Lennon’s solo album Imagine.  Randy loved that he did this song.  Ellen felt he was authentic and this was his best performance to date.  Kara said he showed vulnerability and it was very tasteful.  Simon thought it was the best of the night so far.  He is so cute–wait…have I said that before?

Singing “Across the Universe” is Siobhan Magnus.  Randy says that no one in this competition screams artist as Siobhan does.  Ellen tells her she is a big fan of those who march to their own drummer.  Kara didn’t feel the song was marketable.  Simon says her unpredictability is great.

Performing last tonight is Lee Dewyze with “Hey Jude”.  Okay…so I drifted off and missed the whole thing!  Evidently, the song didn’t hold my interest.

I’m happy to say that I am finished for tonight.  I’m so sleepy!  Tomorrow’s elimination show will feature Rihanna and David Archuleta.  Adam Lambert will mentor and perform next week.  Hurray!!!!  Good night…Bloggergal

Aaron- the teen dream, just pretty much butchered the song, yikes , i hope he goes away soon. Katie- she was doing ok until the screaming started, she was better than aaron though. Andrew- needs to let the air out of his hair, his whole look really bugs me its probably one of the reasons i really hate him. Michael- actually can sing, it was not a bad performance. Crystal- as usual was really good, she reminds me of bonnie raitt somewhat. Tim- neil diamond lite, i think he is a really boring performar, hopefully he goes soon. Casey- looked really hot, he reminded me of singer michael hutchence, he has a real similar look, he sounded ok i didnt think it was his best song really.Siobhan- Her hair gets weirder and bigger every week, very weird outfit as well, pretty boring performance from her, at least she didnt scream which she is known to do. Lee- I didnt really like the performance i dont think he has a bad voice though.

I thought Katie Stevens had the best performance last night. My bottom 3 are Andrew Garcia, Siobhan Magnus and Casey James.

I think that tonight was a great night for Andrew Garcia. He really showed that he deserved to be in this competition. On the other hand, Lee DeWyze did not show any signs of improvement, leading me to believe he will be eliminated from the show tonight.

The usual performers did well tonight, except for Aaron Kelly. I think the Beatles Night really hurt him, because it is not his style of signing. Although, I do believe that he is a great young singer with a lot of talent, and should rebound next week. He is in no danger to be kicked off of the show.

I thought that Crystal’s performance was awsome. I thought that the song “Come Together” was perfect for her and I also liked that interesting instrument that guy was playing while she was performing. I think either Tim Urban or Katie Stevens might go home in the elimination show.

I thought that Aaron Kelly’s performance singing “The Long and Winding Road” was very good and i also thought it was the best of the night. I thought that the bottom 3 of the night were Siobhan Magnus, Andrew Garcia and Lee Dewyze.

By far the best performances were Chrystal, Casey, and maybe Mike. Aaron Kelly’s version of “The Long and Winding Road” was so poorly performed for much of the song — off notes, no passion, poor quality to his voice. I like this kid, but when you compare his performance tonight with David Archuleta’s of the same song in 2008, it severely pales in comparison on all levels. I also liked Siobhan’s performance — this song was not easy to sing — needed lots of breath control to pull it off and she did. It wasn’t a song that made you excited, but it was good nonetheless. I also like Lee, but stripped of all the background music and distractions – a rather poor vocal. Either Andrew, Aaron, or Tim (who NEVER should have been here in the first place) will go.

This night was the first night where I think everyone did a solid job. I like Andrew Garcia, but I think it is time for him to leave. For the first time I had Aaron Kelly in the bottom 3, so hopefully he recovers next week. I think Casey and Crystal did the best like usual.

Crystal was easily the best performance…. if you judge on singing and not where somebody is from.

Katie was very smart with song choice. Let It Be is such a great song that she gets points just for singing it. She did a decent job…. but Brook White’s version was a lot better in her season.

Tim…… gotta go!

Everyone did a great job, but I just think Katie sounds inexperienced, but I like her, Andy actually did pretty good, which to me was a shock.
