Wow, now that’s what I call a finale show! Tony Bennett, Beyonce, Jack Black, Tom Jones,Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, Tim McGraw, Bono and the list goes on and on. I loved Jack Black and Casey Abrams. They are so good together. Did you see Jack Black dancing when Tom Jones sang? He is so cool.

Scotty McCreery was THE most gracious winner of American Idol I’ve ever seen. His parents should be very, very proud of the job they did raising that boy. When he started singing and instead of taking the moment for himself, he walked down and hugged his family and then came back up on stage to hug each of the other contestants, I was very impressed.

I feel closer to all the ex-Idols after getting to spend some time with them yesterday. I have to say once more that every one showed how much they really, truly appreciate their fans. I know some felt that Jacob was conceited and stuck up, but in person he was great. He talked to everyone equally, with absolutely no conceit.

I loved the American Idol contestant “skits”. Usually those skits are silly and stupid, but I enjoyed these. There are some comedians among this year’s Idol’s.

Of course my favorite moment of the night is my guy Steven Tyler. I hear he won’t be returning next season, not sure if that’s true, but I’ll be very sad to see him leave.

So another year of American Idol comes to a close. Thanks to all of you for helping me here with your always welcome comments. I love you all! BBBlogger has asked me to come over and blog on Big Brother so look for me over there! See you in July. G’nite Bloggergal XXOO

Having been there last year made it a lot easier this year, since I knew “the ropes”. It takes about an hour and a half to drive from where I live to the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. We left at about 9:30 a.m. and arrived about 11:00 a.m. The line to pick-up tickets was already around the block. We asked when the tickets would be given out and we were told noon. That meant we would be standing in line for at least an hour. Actually, that’s not too bad of a wait when it comes to TV shows in LA. We had tickets in hand by 12:30. We needed to be in the theater by 4:30 p.m.

We headed for lunch and then spent the rest of the afternoon hanging around the outside of the theater. ATT was sponsoring a concert stage with a number of past American Idol contestants. We heard Blake Lewis and Kimberly Colwell perform. There were a lot of ex-Idols hanging out. I was able to get Nikki McKibbon to pose for a picture. She mentioned that most of her time now is spent being a mom. Scott McIntyre was on hand, along with Andrew Garcia. I also saw Kimberly Locke, Didi Benami, Ace Young, Elliot Yamen, Michael Johns and Jason Castro. Please don’t check my spelling!

There really isn’t much to tell you about the show itself that you didn’t see by watching the TV show. The contestants did sound better in person than when I replayed the show at home. The audience, as well as the judges seemed to be leaning toward Lauren Alaina, but who knows? Her final “mom” number sold me and I heard a number of others in the audience feeling the same way.

I did finally get to see Steven Tyler, but only across the room. The judges were fawned over by the make-up crew during each break. At least one person screamed to Steven Tyler during the commercials and he did take the time to look out and acknowledge the audience.

My favorite part of the day/night was after the show. The Idol contestants all came outside to the Fox News affiliate tent to do interviews. It gave the fans a chance to meet them and take some pics. Naima was very nice and really took the time to get to each and every fan. Some of the Idol’s had a hard time getting over to the fans because they were required to do interview after interview. This was especially true for James Durbin, Paul McDonald, Casey Abrams and Pia Toscano. I guess this was because they were the most popular. I never did see Haley Reinhart. I’m not sure if she was doing the interviews or not. Lauren Alaina and Scotty came out for just a minute or two and then they were whisked away. The other Idol contestants said they were tired. Jacob’s personality really shined through while he was talking to the fans. He said his album would be out by the end of the year (or so). James Durbin was sporting a fur tail and a Thor mask. When he came over by us, someone asked about the mask and he said it was because he was “Thor Four”, referring to him being eliminated at the fourth position. Stefano Langone is really nice looking in person and his smile is killer! I was really happy to get right up and next to Paul McDonald. He talked a little about his band the Grand Magnolias. His smile really is amazingly white!

So, that’s it for tonight. I’m exhausted and going to sleep. Can’t wait for tomorrow night’s show. Bloggergal

When Il Volo started singing, I was thinking “what?” But, by the end of their song I wanted them to be the next American Idol.

As usual, the elimination show was filled with a whole lotta nothing to blog about!

Ninety-five million votes is one heck of a lot of votes, huh? Computer software programs have to be most of those votes. After all, how many times did you vote?

Scotty’s homecoming with Josh Turner was fun. He’s a cutie that Josh Turner, isn’t he?

My husband’s theory is that the one who had the biggest crowd at home will be the next American Idol. I don’t know which one that was though. He thinks Lauren Alaina had the biggest crowd.

I am hoping to get tickets to one of next week’s shows so I can tell you all about it. So keep your fingers crossed for me! G’nite…Bloggergal

The three contestants remaining will sing three songs. The first song is their choice. The judges say Haley won the first round. Me? I have no idea.

So, did you see the coming attraction of next season’s show on FOX Terra Nova? It looks interesting. Kung Fu Panda 2 looks cute too! Am I drifting again? Oops!

The second song was chosen by Jimmy Iovine. Steven Tyler chose Haley as his favorite, while Jennifer and Randy chose Scotty.

The third song is the judges choice of songs. Once again, Steven chose Haley, but this time Jennifer and Randy chose Lauren Alaina.

So let me see if I have this straight Jennifer and Randy chose each of the contestants as winners in each of the three songs. The only one who had a real opinion was Steven Tyler who stuck by Haley throughout the whole show. OOPS! I guess I really wasn’t paying any attention. A commenter brings it to my attention that Steve Tyler said Lauren Alaina won the second round. Sorry!

I’m looking forward to your comments as to who will make it to the finals next week. I don’t really have a favorite. Bloggergal

This is still a race to the finish. I am going to stick to my original thoughts. I think either Lauren or Scotty is going to win because their teen fan base is tremendous and teens vote and vote and…well you get the idea.

The theme of the first songs “inspirational” fits the country music genre perfectly. What that means is that Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina did a great job tonight. In my opinion, they were the two best of the first set of songs. Both were very smart in choosing a song so close to America’s heart. James did a good job–but it may have been too much of the same old thing.

I don’t know how easy it is to take advice from someone who has horns in her face, but the Idol contestants seemed to have pulled something out of the experience. Lady Gaga may be a tad different, but she sure knows how to market herself into millions of dollars. Her opinions just can’t be ignored.

The second set of songs were all good. Of the four, Scotty may have came out looking a little silly on his second number. Lauren showed her sexy side. She has definitely matured during her time on Idol. Haley redeemed herself. James did what James does…gave his song a rocker twist, added his high notes and some flash and voila!

This one’s a tough one. I don’t really think any of those four contestants should leave the show. I would love to see all four in the final fighting it out to the bitter end. But, alas, I guess that won’t happen. So I guess we’ll see who gets eliminated tomorrow. Yikes!

I think they are all talented and will do well in their careers no matter what. As mentioned many times on this site, it is usually better NOT to be the American Idol.

Have a good weekend, Bloggergal

Wow, I was surprised to hear Ryan Seacrest say that there are only three more weeks of American Idol. Tonight the top five contestants will perform two songs each–one modern, one classic. It’s easy to say that Jacob is going home this week, but will he? Remember that every week after someone goes home, the votes from that person end up going to another contestant. So in other words, all of Casey Abrams fans will be voting for one of the remaining five. That changes the whole dynamic from the previous week.

Out of the first five performances, I would have to give props to Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery and Haley Reinhart. I know I’m going to hear from all the James Durbin fans, but I thought he sounded bad on his first song. Same goes for Jacob Lusk. Of course, the judges loved both James and Jacob and they didn’t like Haley. I thought she did a great job on that song and that she made the correct decision in choosing it.

When James sang his second song, was there a dry (female) eye in the house? His authentic emotions are going to be hard to beat in this competition. As the judges said, his song wasn’t pitch-perfect, but he continuously wins over the audience week after week.

Jacob’s second song was better than his first number, but I don’t think it can save him this week. The other four performers are stronger than him in talent, in stage presence and in fan base.

Unchained Melody is one of my favorite songs ever. However, I thought Lauren did this song too softly for my tastes. The judges tiptoed around her (as usual). Didn’t she look absolutely beautiful in that gown?

My DH commented that Scotty always picks the right song. He stays true to himself and his style of singing, thank goodness! He’s been working on his stage presence too–did you notice? He’s learning how to work that camera.

Haley Reinhart kicked butt with The House of the Rising Sun! She showed her range and her sexiness. I have to agree with Randy…this was the best performance of the night.

Hopefully, Jacob Lusk will be voted off tomorrow because it would be a true shame if it’s one of the other four contestants. Good night. Bloggergal

I have to admit, I really thought that Jacob’s time had come, but I didn’t think Casey was far behind so “oh well”. Casey sure went out with style, didn’t he. I was really proud to see him take control of his own destiny and go out with style. Good luck Casey Abrams. I will definitely follow your career.

I must comment that I enjoyed both guest performances tonight–Bruno Mars and Crystal Bowersox were fun to watch. Wish I could say the same for the Top Six Finalists number, but I can’t! That was just not good.

What did everyone think of Jimmy Iovine’s comments. Hey, wait a minute…how about Jimmy Iovine becomes a judge instead of those three “Idol-izers”? I don’t think Steven Tyler can say a bad word about anyone, but I still don’t care–I love you Steven Tyler!

So, who’s staying up to watch the Royal Wedding tonight? If you are…enjoy yourself. I’ll catch up with the royals in the morning. Have a good night! Bloggergal
