Finally the Final American Idol Twenty-Four!
American Idol…the Olympics…Shaun White…Top 24. It was a hard choice, but the Olympics won out. So I DVR’d American Idol and that’s why the blog is running pretty late. This Idol is a big one because the remainder of the top 24 are being revealed. I’m happy to finally see (and hear?) all the contestants.
First up today is Janell Wheeler. In case you don’t remember, she’s the leggy blond with the interesting tone to her voice. I think she’s had good moments and bad moments throughout her auditions. I guess the judges see through the bad and she’s in the top 24. I bet those amazing legs helped a little bit!
Next to get a “yes” is Tyler Grady. He’s the retro-70’s rocker guy. I’m a 70’s girl so I love him. Let’s see how he does with a variety of genre.
Lacey Brown is the girl that made it to this point last year only to be turned away. She thinks that what happened last year has helped her and this is her year. She’s right because she’s in the top 24.
Next Idol flashes through a number of contestants that are in the top 24 without highlighting them. In the top 24 is Ashley Rodriguez. I think she’s going to be around until the end. Alex Lambert is in. I waited through this whole audition process to mention the obvious…Alex Lambert/Adam Lambert? Weird, huh? I don’t remember much about the next guy…Joe Munoz. I really think that AI sometimes holds back on the contestants so that later on we can be amazed (hopefully?).
Crystal Bowersox is the girl with the good voice and the individual look. She sports dreads, an earring through her lip and tattoos. But this is American Idol, so she should fit right in and she takes one of those coveted spots.
Cute youngin’ Katie Stevens is next to meet with the judges. She’s the girl who has the grandmother with Alzheimer’s Disease. She’s also the girl that can sing rings around most of the others. With girls like this, I think this might be the year for a female American Idol.
Here’s where things took a sad turn. Angela Martin is here for her third time to try to become a finalist on American Idol. The first time she auditioned, her father had just died. One good thing that came out of that tryout was that Shrine Hospital contacted her about her disabled baby girl. I thought she was really good that year and was disappointed that she didn’t make it. The second time, she had to withdraw because she had traffic violations and couldn’t pay them. She had to go to school for six days. Third time should be a charm right? Wrong. She doesn’t make it to the top 24. I sure hope she’s okay. I was so upset, I tried to find her Facebook page to encourage her!
Added to the top 24 is Lilly Scott. She’s the girl with the white/silver hair. I think the color of her hair washes out her face color, but I think she’s a good singer. Hopefully, AI will adjust her look.
Once again, American Idol announces a number of contestants without highlighting them: Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus, Michelle Delamor, Jermaine Sellers and John Park are all in the top 24. So, how many times have you heard John Park sing since trying out? Once again, I think Idol is holding back.
There are only a few spots left and the remaining contestants are suffering through the waiting. Simon tells Haeley Vaughn that she’s extremely talented and that secured the final spot of the top 12 girls.
The final spot will go to either Thaddeus Johnson or Andrew Garcia. Thaddeus is the sixteen year old that Randy loved from his first tryout and Andrew is the guy from my neighboring town. Andrew has been incredible throughout the auditions, so even without waiting for the commercials to be over, I know who has the final spot. Okay, I read it in the local newspaper…Andrew Garcia gets the last spot in the top 24.
Thaddeus Johnson takes if very, very hard. The judges tell him that he “did nothing wrong”. That probably makes him feel worse, huh? So, will he take Michael Lynche’s place? We’ll see, I guess.
That’s it…our top 24! Now it’s time for YOU to tell me who you love and who you don’t! Get those comments in and stay tuned…Bloggergal1

I think it’s a pretty solid Top 24. With the exception of Andrew Garcia, it seems like there is more talent from the girls than the guys this season. I could be surprised though!
