How the show started I have no clue … I was pre-occupied with a very late dinner and getting the kids all set for bed and I missed the first 15 minutes of the show.  Oops !  I tuned in to see a big pink bunny and some guy singing Del Amitri’s “Roll to Me” – He wasn’t *that* bad, but he wasn’t good either.  Simon said no after “Roll to Me” so the guy starting belting “ain’t no mountain high enough to keep me from getting to you.”  Simon stops him thankfully, he and the bunny will not be going to Hollywood !  Darn, I was hoping …  No times 4.

I agree.

We now see  a bunch of quickies from rejected auditioners.  They are all thanking the judges after they are told no they won’t be going to Hollywood.  Paula says she should move there because everyone is so polite.

Frankie- She is a stay at home mom who is very sure of herself and her talent.  She asks Randy if he would like to pick from her two songs and he says no.  She says she will just start then and start she does.

Simon says, “I quite like your voice” and goes on about how he likes her.  Paula says, “I think you have a very good voice.”  All of the judges agree that she’s good and they like her.  It’s yes times 4.

I agree yet again.

Megan- She sings, “Can’t Help Lovin’ That Man of Mine” – She’s a single mother, recently divorced.  It’s her birthday and the judges wish her a happy birthday.

The judges all find her and her voice/style to be very interesting.  Randy says, “I kinda like you.”  Paula says she kind of likes her too and then says, “I think I’m kinda loving you.”  Simon says he really likes her and she is probably one of his favorites so far.  Yes times 4.

I like her too.  I agree.

Now we see a bunch of blips from auditions of some of the people going through to Hollywood.

Andrew- he does a soul song that he hypes up and is proud of.

Kara says, in a none too serious way, “That has to be just perfect.”  Simon says, “That was not my definition of soul.”  All four judges agree it’s a no.  No times 4.

Agreed !

Austin- He sings “When I Look to the Sky” by Train.  He’s the senior class president and from what they show he is very into his responsibility and making sure things that need to get done, get done.  He sings his song.  It’s umm, just not the song for him.

Randy says, “I thougt it was okay.  Very weird odd song choice.”  Simon tells him, “We haven’t quite joined the fan club yet.”

Austin then does a different song, a song by Raffi about a village raising a child …  Simon does not lke this song either.  All of the judges find his second choice of song as odd as his first choice.  Randy says, “You have a good voice.  Weird song choices.”  All of the judges say they find him charming.  Simon tells him he needs to become young and act more his age.  It’s yes times 4.

I don’t really know if I agree.  I tend to think that I don’t agree with the judges on this one.

Now we get to see a whole bunch of auditioners crying because they didn’t make it to Hollywood.  Next we see some more horrible audition blips.

Taylor- She sings “Joyful, Joyful”  Randy is reminded of Jordin Sparks when he sees her.  She gets to singing.

Kara says, “I was impressed by her.  I saw her in the bathroom practicing a couple of times today.”  Randy really likes her.  Paula comments on how nice her tone is.  It’s yes times 4.

I agree entirely.

Rose- She sings Carol King’s “I Feel the Earth Move”  Rose has a sad story.  She lives with her best friend’s family and has for the past year or so because both of her parents have died.  She was really close with her father.  He died when she was 13.  We see her going through pictures of him and she says she misses him.  Her mother died two years after her father did in a car accident.  We see her brother standing with her talking about how proud of her he is.

In the audition room Simon tells her that she looks terrific and fantastic.  She is wearing a brightly colored, multicolored .. dress I guess ?  To me it looks like a crinkly over sized tube top, but I’m not much on fashion so yeah, we’ll go with Simon on this one.  Simon asks her to share something about herself.  She tells the judges that she’s charming.  They all agree.  She begins to sing the song … with all the build up I was hoping she wouldn’t outright suck.  She doesn’t, but she isn’t wonderfully fantastic either.

Simon thanks her very much for her audition.  Paula says she has a beautiful face and feel about her but she needs to work on her vocals a bit.  Simon tells her that it’s not the best of song choices for her but, “there’s something about you that I really love.”  They vote.  Yes times 4.

I wouldn’t agree if it was on her voice alone.

13 golden tickets were handed out in Salt Lake City Utah.  Tomorrow night we will get to see auditions from both New York City and Puerto Rico.  And next week … Hollywood week !  I’m excited.  I really like Hollyood week.

Of those we saw tonight I would have to say:  The pink bunny was odd, not sure I know what that guy was thinking.  I am very glad Andrew didn’t make it.  I think despite what I think of Rose’s vocals she will do really well in Hollywood.
