Who Wows During Idols At the Movies Night?

Hi!

I’m in a Fort Collins Colorado motel and things aren’t going smoothly.  I have no Internet access in my room, so I have to run down to the lobby to use it.  The TV Guide says that American Idol comes on at 7:00 p.m. CT but when I turned on that station, the station is off the air.  The girl behind the counter in the lobby has no idea when American Idol is on.  Can you imagine?  She doesn’t watch American Idol–the nerve!  So right now I’m waiting to see if they put American Idol on at 8:00 p.m. CT.  Keeping my fingers crossed!

Keeping my fingers crossed didn’t work–no American Idol <sigh>.  The following recap is from my friend back in Pennsylvania.  Dr. B do you want me to mention that I’m talking about you?  LOL.  By the way, I checked at the front desk and I wasn’t the only one looking for Idol on TV.

First, we have some program notes.  A lot of fans were upset that American Idol went over last week and they weren’t able to watch it due to their recorders shutting off.  So this week, only two judges will comment after each contestant and they will switch back and forth.  This should move the show along a little better thank goodness.  Guest mentor is movie director Quentin Tarantino and the theme is Idol at the movies.  What that means is the seven contestants will choose a song that was featured in a movie.  That doesn’t narrow their choices very much, but maybe that’s not a good thing?

Allison Araheta is first up this week.  She chose Aerosmith’s “I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing” from the movie Armegeddon.  The judges are positive about her.

Singing “Everything I Do, I Do For You” from the movie Robin Hood was Anoop Desai.  Kara said this was Anoop’s best performance to date.

Next up is this season’s “golden boy” Adam Lambert.  He chose “Born to Be Wild” from the movie Easy Rider.  This is an oldie, but a great choice.  He, once again, comes through with a great performance.  I can’t believe I missed it!

Matt Giraud is the only contestant to sing with a musical instrument this week.  He sings “When You Love A Woman” from the movie Don Juan DeMarco.  Did you see this movie?  It starred Johnny Depp and it was HOT!  But anyway, Matt does a decent job, although the judges aren’t very complimentary.

Danny Gokey sings “Endless Love” from that Brooke Shields’ sappy movie with the same title.  First off, let’s talk about his look.  Hey Pat…No glasses!  Is Danny reading our blog and comments? Since I didn’t see him I can’t say if he looked better or worse.  Dr. B says it made him look more professional.  What do you think?  As far as the song goes, this was not one of his best.  The judges said it was in the wrong key.  Even though I didn’t see the show, I really don’t like that song so I can’t imagine me liking it.  Also, I think Danny isn’t improving every week as he should be.  He doesn’t come across as a star to me.

From the movie Once, Kris Allen sang the song “Falling Slowly”.  The judges weren’t thrilled but I think his fans will be.  This is one of those times when the fans are right and the judges aren’t.

Last tonight was Lil Rounds.  You know how American Idol always saves the best for last?  Well, sorry, but not this time.  Lil sings “The Rose” and the judges are still saying the same things they’ve said since the show started.  She just isn’t up to competing with the best of this season.

While sitting in the lobby, I skipped over to You Tube and listened to some of the performances.  Adam and Kris were awesome (again!).  Anoop and Matt Giraud are in the middle somewhere.  That would make the bottom three Lil, Danny and Allison.  Anyway, I see Lil Rounds “hittin’ the bricks” this week or at least I hope that’s who goes.  I’ll try to check back in with you tomorrow, but I can’t make any promises!  Stay tuned…Bloggergal1

Danny though definately keep the glasses off and amazing performance.I agree entirely about Kris Allen he is absolutely my favorite idol yet from any season.
Lil Rounds has an amazing voice and will be left in atleast the top 5 even if she doesnt win i cant see it ending here for her.

I have to say, i am not a big Adam Lambert fan, but he gave a very solid performance this week. If it weren’t for the always incredible Danny Gokey, Adam probably would have been the best performance of the night.

I really love the show!!! I watch it with my kids!!! I was really let down last night when you changed the format and didn’t let all the judges speak!!! I mean why did you add a fourth judge? That is a huge mistake and please don’t silence the judges at this point!!! Please!!!!

Kris Allen made this so called ‘obscure’ song more than his own.Brilliant performance.
Its hard to believe that an amazing academy award winning song like “Falling Slowly” could still be so ‘obscure’ to music lovers. So much for good taste :)
